Vacation mode for Shopify.
Set your away dates once, in your store's timezone. Away Mode turns on at the start, off at the end, and checks every minute. Shoppers keep browsing every product while you either pause orders or keep taking them with a clear date for when shipping resumes.

Pick one per away period. You can change it any time before the start date.
For when nobody can pack a box. Buy buttons, quick-add, dynamic checkout buttons and the cart's checkout button are hidden and replaced with your message.

02Setup
After installing, the app gives you a link straight to the right spot in the theme editor. Turn the Away Mode embed on once. No code is edited.
Pick a mode, start and end date-time, and what shoppers should read. Add a countdown, an accent colour, and a top or bottom bar if you like.
Away Mode turns on at the start date and off at the end date. Use the preview link to see it on your store before then.
03Included
Dates are in your store's timezone and checked every minute, so you don't need to remember to flip anything from an airport.
Plans change. Start an away period immediately, end it the day you get back, or cancel one that hasn't started.
A preview link shows the bar and notices on your real storefront, only in your browser, before the start date.
When an away period ends you see how many orders got the delay note, how many sign-ups you collected, and any orders that were flagged.
Every past away period is kept with its dates and mode, so next year's trip starts from last year's settings.
Page views never call our server. Your away state is served by Shopify with the page itself, so it adds no wait and keeps working if our server is offline.
Works with Online Store 2.0 themes (tested on Dawn-based themes and Horizon) and vintage themes (tested on Debut). Uninstalling removes it cleanly.
04Limits
Pause orders works at the storefront level: it hides the ways a shopper normally reaches checkout. A determined shopper with a saved checkout link, or a theme that adds buy buttons in unusual places, could still get an order through.
If that happens, Away Mode tags the order away-mode-order and emails you, so you can contact the customer or refund it. If you need checkout switched off for certain, Shopify's own options are compared in Pause and Build vs password page vs an app.
Shopify POS isn't affected; Away Mode only changes your online store.
