That’s Stash. When you put something away, take a photo of it in its spot and type a few words. Later, search or ask, and the photo and the place come straight back.

Ten seconds when you put it away

  1. Snap the spot. The camera opens first. Photograph the thing where it sits. The Stash It widget opens the camera from your Home Screen, Lock Screen or Control Center.
  2. Name it. One or two words: Passports.
  3. Say where. The way you’d say it out loud. The photo does the rest.
  4. Add a room, if you like, to browse the garage or the attic later.

However you ask, it looks everywhere

Search reads the name, the place, the room, your note, the words printed in the photo and what’s in the picture. Recognition runs on the phone. Your stash shows up in Spotlight too.

  1. pasport

TypoPassports still comes up first. Plurals and one wrong letter are fine.

  2. blue box

Words you wroteEverything whose place or note mentions a blue box: the passports, and the cables in the garage.

  3. warranty

Words in the photoThe dishwasher manual, because “Warranty” is printed on its cover. Text in photos is read on the phone.

  4. where did I put the camping stove?

A question“Camping stove: Garage, metal shelf by the bikes. Moved by Maya in May.” On iPhones with Apple Intelligence, Apple’s on-device model writes the sentence.

  5. Hey Siri, where’s the spare key in Stash?

Out loudSiri says where it is, who put it there and when, and shows the photo. “Stash something” opens the camera.

Things move. So does the answer.

Moved it somewhere else? Tap Moved it, snap the new spot and say where. The old spot goes into the history.

Took it out for good? Tap Got it out. It leaves your stash, but search still tells you when it came out and where it used to be.

Questions

Do I need an account?

No. Stash has no sign-up and no server of ours. Your stash lives on your iPhone and, if you use iCloud, in your own iCloud account.

Can my family see the same stash?

Yes. Share your household from Settings and the people you invite see the same stash through iCloud. They can add and move things too, and each entry shows who did it. Deleting a shared item deletes it for everyone.

Does it know where my house is?

No. Stash never asks for your location, and photos are re-saved without the location your camera writes into them. The only “where” it knows is the one you type.

Can I keep a photo private?

Turn on Hide photo until Face ID. The photo stays blurred in the app and is left out of widgets, Siri and Spotlight.

Is there anything to buy?

No. There are no in-app purchases and no ads.
