Go on, tap the minutes. These are real activities from the app, picked here for a four-year-old.

TinkerTime is an iPhone app for the moment your child is bored and you’re out of ideas. Tell it how long you’ve got and who’s playing, and it gives you one thing to do, step by step, with a timer, using what’s already in the house.

A session, start to finish.

  1. Step 1 of 4

    Say who’s playing

    RosieTheoEveryone

    AnythingQuietBurn energyNo messOutside

A profile for each child, with ages that move forward as they grow. Everyone finds something they can all do. One tap for the mood you’re in.

  2. Step 2 of 4 · Get ready

    Use what you have

    • Tape
    • A cardboard box
    • Ice cubes
    • A laundry basket
    • Crayons
    • Blankets
    • Pots and spoons
    • Paper towels
    • A balloon
    • Socks
    • Cushions
    • A bucket of water

Every free activity is built from things like these. Prep time is honest and counted against your window, because prep is time you don’t have.

  3. Step 3 of 4

    One step per screen

    Step 2 of 5

Peg the corners so it stops collapsing, and add more blankets outward.

Keep in mindLeave a clear way out so nobody gets trapped.

Type big enough to read across the kitchen table, real safety notes, and a timer when you want one.

  4. Step 4 of 4

    Say how it went

They loved itIt was fineNot for us

The ones they loved come back more often. The ones that weren’t for you stop appearing.

Use the toys you already own.

Add what’s on your toy shelf and the activities reshape around it. Pro also shows what you can do this second with nothing extra, keeps as many saved activities as you like, and tells you which single toy would unlock the most new play. One purchase, no subscription.

Keep in mind

  • Nothing about your child leaves your phone. Their name and age stay on the device.
  • No account, no sign-up, no analytics, no ads.
  • No camera and no AI: toys are added from a list built into the app.
  • It works offline. Every activity is stored inside the app.

Questions parents ask.

When can I get it?

TinkerTime is coming to the App Store for iPhone. This page will link to it as soon as it’s live.

What does it cost?

The app is free, and every free activity uses things most homes already have. TinkerTime Pro is a single purchase, not a subscription. It reshapes activities around the toys you own and removes the limit on saved activities.

What ages is it for?

Babies up to about twelve. Every activity has an age range, and you only see the ones that suit the child you picked. Add a profile for each child; their ages move forward as they grow.

Does it need the internet?

No. Every activity is stored inside the app, so it works in the car, at the grandparents’ or in airplane mode. It goes online only to check for new activities, when you tap a shopping link, and to check whether you have Pro.

Why are there Amazon links?

When an activity needs one thing you don’t have, TinkerTime can link to an Amazon search for it. TinkerTime is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program; as an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases. It costs you nothing extra and never changes which activities you’re shown.
