TinkerTime
TinkerTime privacy policy
Nothing about your family leaves your phone. No account, no sign-in, no analytics, and no server holding your data. The only record kept anywhere else is an anonymous one of whether you bought Pro. This page explains that in full rather than asking you to take it on trust.
What we collect
Nothing about you or your children.
We do not collect, transmit, sell or store any personal information. There is no TinkerTime server for your data to be sent to. The one exception is the record of a TinkerTime Pro purchase, described under Purchases below. It contains no name, email address or anything about your child.
What stays on your device
The following is saved on your phone and never leaves it:
- Your children's names or nicknames, and their ages
- The toys you add to your toy shelf
- Activities you save or have played
- Your app settings
This is stored only in the app's own private storage. Uninstalling TinkerTime deletes all of it permanently. You can export it yourself at any time from Settings → Backup and restore, which writes a plain, readable file that you control and that we never see.
Children's privacy
TinkerTime is designed for parents and carers to use, not for children to use alone. A child's name and age are stored solely to pick age-appropriate activities, they stay on the device, and they are never transmitted anywhere.
We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children under 13. There is no mechanism in the app by which we could.
The only outbound connections
In the interests of being complete rather than merely reassuring, these are the only times TinkerTime contacts the internet at all.
- Checking for content updates. When you open the app it asks Expo's update service whether new activities are available. This request carries your app version and device platform, as any app update check does. It carries nothing about you or your children. Expo's privacy policy is at expo.dev/privacy.
- When you tap a shopping link. If you tap a link to buy a toy, your device's browser opens Amazon. From that point you are on Amazon's website and their privacy policy applies, not ours. We never send Amazon anything about you, your children or your toy shelf; the link is a plain product search.
- Checking whether you have Pro. Described under Purchases below.
The app works completely offline apart from these three things. Every activity and every toy is stored inside the app itself.
Affiliate links
TinkerTime is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising programme. As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases.
This costs you nothing extra, and it does not change which activities you are shown. Toy suggestions are ranked purely by how many activities each one would unlock for your child's age, a number the app calculates, not by what pays the most commission.
Purchases
If you buy TinkerTime Pro, the payment is handled entirely by Apple's App Store or Google Play. We never see your name, email address or payment details.
To know whether Pro is unlocked, and so you can restore it on a new phone, the app uses a service called RevenueCat. When the app opens it asks RevenueCat whether Pro is active. RevenueCat holds an anonymous, randomly generated ID for your copy of the app, along with the store's record of the purchase: which product, when, and at what price. It holds nothing about your children, your toy shelf or what you do in the app. RevenueCat's privacy policy is at revenuecat.com/privacy.
Analytics and advertising
There are none. TinkerTime contains no analytics SDK, no crash reporting that transmits personal data, no advertising network and no tracking of any kind. We do not know how many activities you have done, which ones, or when.
Your rights
Everything about your family is in your hands: uninstalling the app removes it, and the backup file is yours alone. The only record outside your phone is the anonymous Pro purchase record described above. Email us and we will have it deleted, though you may then need to restore your purchase.
Changes
If this policy changes, the updated version will appear here with a new date. Material changes will also be noted in the app.
